URGENT – Update Regarding the 2023 ACPBC AGM & Pre-AGM Event

Yesterday, the ACPBC was informed about upcoming strike action by the Teacher Support Staff Union (TSSU) at the SFU campus where the AGM and Professional Development training was to take place this Friday, October 20th. Although the campus remains open, hosting our meeting at that location would likely require crossing a picket line. This puts many of our members in a difficult position and poses an ethical dilemma for others. In addition to picketing, there is the potential for disruptions to the services needed to run the meeting smoothly.

For these reasons, the board has made the decision to continue with the AGM as a virtual meeting by Zoom only. There will be no in-person option for the meeting.

The virtual AGM will commence at 4:30 pm on Friday October 20th and will be followed by an exciting update about ACPBC’s application for Designation under the Professional Governance Act.

The Professional Development Session that was scheduled to happen prior to the AGM, will be postponed to a later date. Although the session can be carried out virtually, the board strongly believes it will have the greatest impact as a hybrid in-person/ virtual event. Once a date, time, and location have been determined, additional information will be sent out to all members and posted on our website.

Members can access all AGM-related documents (agenda, reports, bylaw amendments, etc.) and Zoom instructions by logging into the ACPBC current members tab on the website.

Please note, login for the website differs from the login to our member management system so you may need to reset your password by using the “Lost your password?” link.

Your attendance at the AGM plays an important role in the development of professional chemistry in BC. Please make every effort to attend.
